Pride Poetry Showcase
PRIDE POETRY SHOWCASE
BY: KYLEE HARRIS
HAPPY PRIDE MONTH! This June I’ve decided to showcase queer artists’ talents in the form of poetry. Every queer person has a story, and that story isn’t always just about being queer! Each of us has an identity beyond our queerness, and sometimes that story is untold. That’s why this month, I wanted to give queer artists an opportunity to share their poems with me no matter what they are about!
During the month of June, we celebrate our queer family that came before us, paving the path to a better safer world for us. I’ve spent the month interviewing queer poets, and gathering their work along with a picture and short bio. This is the first installment of many to come, expressing the freedom and safety we desire. This showcase is made to uplift, encourage, and represent queer writers everywhere, who may not have had the opportunity to have their work published publicly.
A message to queer people everywhere: YOUR STORY MATTERS. It deserves to be told, and we are listening.
