Peer Mentor Presentations at La Colaborativa

Today our Peer Mentors worked with the mental health cohort of interns at La Colaborativa in Chelsea to share information, community resources, and lived experience with their peers. The interns did a great job presenting and we look forward to joining them again on Monday.

Events at Eliot Family Resource Center with Ayanna Pressley

Today at the Eliot Family Resource Center, we held our third session of our Teen Group Let’s Talk About It!  We also presented our comeback stories to interns at the Cambridge Health Alliance and played some interactive games to practice public speaking. To top off an incredible day we had the pleasure of meeting Congresswoman, Ayanna Pressley, as she spoke with staff and community members at the Eliot Family Resource Center. We appreciate the time she took to discuss the great work the FRC is doing and to ask what more she could do to support the community.

Motivational Interviewing on Day 3 of Summer Learning Series

Today we had our third day of our summer learning series! Kim Bisset, longtime supporter of the NAN Project and Director and Founder of Radiate Career Consulting, led us in an all day workshop on motivational interviewing. Our team learned so much on how to engage someone in conversation so they feel listened to and better equipped to move forward. 

This summer learning series was funded through a grant by CHNA 15, and was made possible by Determination of Need funds received from Lahey Hospital & Medical Center and Winchester Hospital We are so thankful to our guests for what we’ve learned today and look forward to the next session of our summer learning series!

Day 2 of Let’s Talk About It! At the Eliot FRC

Today, our team held our second day of Let’s Talk About It! Our teen support group at the Eliot Family Resource Center in Everett. We focused on self-care strategies and took part in plenty of group activities. Our participants learned about toxic, tolerable, and positive stress; played self-care bingo; and painted with watercolors. We’re thankful for today’s conversation and activities and look forward to next week’s session!

Summer Learning Series Day 2

Today, our team held our second day of our summer learning series! Our guest speaker; Emma Lenski M.S., LGBTQIA+ Services Coordinator from 18 Degrees Family Services; provided a presentation on LGBTQIA+ homelessness and its impact on suicidality, as well as best practices in regards to asking about and correcting one’s pronoun usage. In the afternoon, we learned about the role of therapy dogs in mental health and had the pleasure of spending an hour with Kristin, Rex, and their therapy dog, Kat, from Dog B.O.N.E.S .

Let’s Talk About It! Teen Group at Eliot FRC

We held the first session of our summer group for teens: Let’s Talk About It in collaboration with the Eliot Family Resource Center in Everett. Our group had a great time getting to know each other and talking about coping strategies. We look forward to deeper conversations about mental health and fun activities in the coming weeks!

Sharing Ideas with Interns of the Network for Social Justice and Social Capital Inc

Today we got the opportunity to join NAGLY and Kick it for a Cause to speak to students of the Network for Social Justice and Social Capital Inc internship program. We spoke to the interns about our values and method as an organization and answered their questions about community organizing as they set out to create their own project.

Summer Learning Series Day 1

Today we had the first day of our summer learning series. Our team had a great time playing get to know you bingo and learning more about each other, especially our newest members. Our guest speaker, Hannah Mell, led us through some exercises to identify what we need to feel safe and courageous in a space and how to apply this to our presentations. Cummings Foundation Grant Winner Celebration

The NAN Project was fortunate enough to join the Cummings Foundation Grant Winner Celebration tonight! Huge thank you to the Cummings Foundation for their generous support and for a great night of appreciation.

QPR for La Colaborativa in Chelsea

Today we presented QPR for internship students at La Colaborativa in Chelsea. The group was great with lots of participation and insight. La Colaborativa even led us in a game of Simon says to break up the heavy training! We look forward to working more with La Colaborativa soon.
